Call for Applications: Managing Director of the College for Bishops
The College for Bishops seeks applications for the position of Managing Director of the College. The Managing Director works under the supervision of the Board of Directors of the College and in partnership with the Office of the Presiding Bishop. Applicants should be members in good standing of the House of Bishops of The Episcopal Church.
The principal components of the position include general administration, including budget and planning, and the coordination and supervision of the programs of the College. The range of current programs covers the canonically required programs for new bishops, programs for bishops in transition, ongoing continuing education for bishops, and the coordination of program initiatives between the College for Bishops and other agencies and program units of the Episcopal Church and the House of Bishops.
The position is presently considered to be half-time. Some travel is required.
The offices of the College are located in New Bern, North Carolina. It is anticipated that the Managing Director will be in regular communication with the staff there, but there is no expectation that relocation will be necessary.
The search committee will begin considering applications on February 1, 2019. Letters of interest and supporting materials should be sent to the convener by that date. It is anticipated that the Board of Directors will receive a recommendation from the search committee at its April 2019 meeting. The starting date is open to negotiation, but it is anticipated that the new Managing Director will begin work during the second half of 2019.
The convenor of the search committee is The Right Reverend Mark Bourlakas, who may be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or through the offices of the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia.
